PHILIPPINE BOARD OF PEDIATRIC SURGERY

The Board is an independent self-governing body that works closely and in coordination with PSPS. Having already certified a total of 79 diplomates to date, the Board looks forward to institute reforms in line with the changing mileu of learners/trainees, and of surgical education and training.

An Examination Committee (composed of Drs. Reyes, Ibay, Cruz and Lagdameo) conducted the first Diplomate Examination, with Drs. Alfredo Acosta and Leonardo Cua being the first examinees.

The second written certifying exam was given

The oral examination was instituted

Dr. Josefina Almonte became the Chairman of the Examination Committee of PSPS, after which, she became the Chairman of the Philippine Board of Pediatric Surgery when it became a separate entity.

The Board removed the requirement of passing the PBS in order to take the PBPS certifying exam. It also removed the Practical examination.
